Lessons
I am a dedicated teacher with a passion for engaging students on their instrument of choice, whether in the form of song, technique, theory, or performance. My students report that I am energetic and enthusiastic and challenge them in ways that are constructive and insightful. As a teacher, I value the individuality of my students, their different life experiences and backgrounds, and their unique learning styles. My lessons and classes integrate an active learning approach, which I have found fosters student independence, creativity, and accountability.
Instruments I teach: Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin Ages I teach: 4 and up. Seriously, your 4 year old IS ready for lessons! I have a few 4.5 year olds playing full chords on uke and guitar! Rates: 15 min lesson - $20 (great for ages 4-6) 30 min lesson - $35 45 min lesson - $45 1hr lesson - $50 Lessons can be held in your home or in my studio in Ann Arbor. You can also split any lesson time slot between siblings or other family members in the same household. During our first lesson, I will asses where they are on their instrument and proceed accordingly. This usually takes about 5 minutes and then we are off an running. After each lesson, students will recieve a written description of topics covered in the lesson and practice assignments for the week. Practicing is fun! Well sometimes not really, but PLAYING is definitely fun. I ask that if you are taking lessons with me that you at least pick up your instrumet for a minimum of 10 minutes at least 3 times a week. The more time you spend practicing, the faster you will learn your instrument which leads to having a lot of fun sooner rather than later. There are endless fun and interesting skills to learn on the guitar and we will move as fast as you progress.
